Youth Music

Youth Music

The youth of First Presbyterian Church are integral in helping to provide music for worship and special events throughout the year. All students in grades 6-12 are invited to participate, regardless of experience or skill. Below is the "school year" schedule. Learn more about the Youth Ministry at FPC.

Please note that all adult volunteers who participate in our youth music ministries are trained on FPC's Abuse Prevention System.

Messengers Youth Choir

Rehearses Sundays, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The Messengers Youth Choir is for youth in grades 6-12. We kick off our year with our annual weekend choir retreat. During the school year, the choir rehearses weekly and sings in both the 9 and 11 am Worship services as scheduled. The group reaches out to the community, singing for various groups and incorporates times for fellowship together. Laura Collins, FPC Music Associate, directs this ensemble.

Middle School Handbell Choir

Rehearses Sundays, 6:00-6:45 p.m. Students in grades 6-8 of all skill levels are invited to come ring handbells with this group, directed by Music Associate Becca Sawyer. No experience is necessary, although if you play an instrument in school then you will very quickly become a leader in handbells! This ensemble provides music for Sunday worship and special services several times throughout the year. An emphasis is placed on team building, leadership skills, sharpening music reading skills, and having fun with music.  For more information, contact Rebecca Sawyer, Director.

High School + Handbell Choir

Rehearses Sundays, 4:30-5:15 pm. as scheduled. Our newest handbell ensemble, this group is open to anyone 9th grade – Old Age. We meet for a series of scheduled rehearsals, usually 4-6 weeks, to prepare for Worship or other events, then take a break. This group is for you if you can’t commit to an all-year ensemble. To sign up, please contact Rebecca Sawyer, Director.
