About Stephen Ministry & Sustaining Care
Are you or is someone you love living with chronic pain or illness? Are you grieving an empty nest, dealing with end of life issues, or mourning the death of a loved one? Are you going through a divorce or experiencing anxiety over financial issues? Does someone you love simply need someone to journey alongside and with whom to share his or her story?
A Stephen Minister or Sustaining Caregiver Can Help
First Presbyterian Church has been committed to Stephen Ministry for over 35 years and has recently introduced the Sustaining Care program. These are both ways we express God's love for persons in our midst who are hurting. "Care givers, not cure givers," listen, support, encourage, and pray with their care receivers. They do not counsel or give advice or try to fix. Rather, they accompany their care receivers in this distinctively Christian ministry of presence.
