Each third Sunday of the month a contemplative service is held at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Unique among our other worship services, this service is in the style of the Taize community (France). Scripture, prayer, and short repetitive songs sung by the congregation (accompanied by flute, cello, and piano) form the liturgy. The Chapel is awash with the glow of candles. The service is an unrushed and peaceful experience in our too often hectic and anxious lives. For many it is a “thin place.”
One of the songs we will sing this Sunday is In God Alone.
In God alone my soul can find rest and peace, in God my peace and joy.
Only in God my soul can find its rest, find its rest and peace.
(Taize Community, 1991)
If you are seeking a moment of rest and peace in your life, and on behalf of our world, plan to attend the Taize service this Sunday, February 19 at 6.30 p.m. If you can’t be present in person, be present in spirit as your pray the words of In God Alone. Know that your prayer will be joined by the gathered congregation as we experience the rest, peace, and joy that only God can give.
God’s peace to you.
